Citadels Quick Reference

Setup
1 – Determine characters to be used. Basic game is the non-star characters # 1 – 8. Expansion game is to randomly select 1 or 2 characters and replace them with the same numbered star character cards.
2 – Shuffle the District cards and deal 4 cards to each player.
3 – Each player receives 2 gold.
4 – Starting player receives the Crown piece.

Turn Overview
1 – Remove and Choose Characters: follow the sequence listed below based on the number of players. The player with the Crown gets first choice and passes remaining cards to his left.

2 – The player with the Crown calls the characters in order, from 1 to 8. Players take turns in that order. If a character was not selected or was assassinated, that character is skipped entirely.
A) Take an action: Either take 2 gold or draw 2 cards, keep one and place the other at the bottom of the deck.
B) Build: you may build one card by placing it in front of you and paying it’s cost in gold to the bank. You may not build identical cards in your city.
C) You may use your characters special power any time during your turn.
